Cle Elum is a small town on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains with a population of 2000 inhabitants. This small town is at the center of some activities fantastic outdoor opportunities. The weather on the east side of the falls is much sunnier than the west side, so that many more days to enjoy the air free in the Seattle area.
First off, is situated on the edge of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Within the forest there are many walks and trails backpacking, lakes and rivers and nature destinations.
There are many trails available throughout the region. Probably the most famous of all road is the pioneer of John Wayne & Iron Horse State Park trail. This trail is a converted railway that runs from just east of Seattle, near North Bend all the way to the border Washington and Idaho. The 110 miles of developed trails that make up the Iron Horse State Park are open to hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding.
The winter time offers its own abundance of outdoor activities with downhill skiing at Snoqualmie Pass and cross-country ski trails, snowshoeing and bikes snow.
Water Destinations include numerous lakes such as Lake Cle Elum, Keechelus Lake, Lake Kachess and many more. The river runs through the city of Yakima and offers some of the most favorable in the trout fishing throughout the region. Much of Yakima has restricted fishing regulations, so that its entry into the station Cle Elum Ranger or the annual fishing guide Washington state. Other popular rivers include River Cle Elum and Teanaway River.
There are many opportunities for camping in the national forest. The best way to find them is to talk to the local ranger station or do a search online. Many require reservations due to high demand, especially on weekends 3 days.
If you are seeking a more upscale experience, the complex is five Suncadia home, four resource season west of Cle Elum.
Local museums and historical information includes mines, tours are available, the trace of the coal mines, Carpenter House Museum and Telephone Museum.
The nearest cities are the northern loop to the west and east of Ellensburg. Cle Elum is right on I-90 and it is quick and easy access from the Seattle area.
